Leather Tee.

Today’s post is brought to you by the leather tee. I’m a tad in love with this piece. Laser cut edging and a loose fit – this black leather piece is easy to wear and easy to pair. It can be dressed down or dressed up and matches almost any bottom. Touches of leather are big for fall – especially in pants and trimmed accents/details. I wore it here with a black blazer in a crepe material for a contrast in fabrics. This tee would also be great with a longer cardigan – maybe in a tan or cream colour. Also a great piece for a fall skirt with tights…..endless options really.

Even More Leather.

We were going to a dinner party for a great friend’s birthday and I realized I had yet to wear this leather skirt out. I love everything about this skirt – the length, the fit, the pockets. Skirts are usually way too short on me because of my height, so finding one that hits in the right spot is a definite score. This skirt has an elastic waist which allows for several looks. I could wear this one high waisted, or just on the hips like I have here. Pairing this edgy piece with a more conservative cardigan allows for a balanced overall look.

Leather.

Leather as a ‘fabric’ has been part of my wardrobe for some time. Shoes, purses, accessories, jackets. A couple years ago, I bought these leather leggings (mostly for a halloween costume). It has taken me a while to be comfortable (make that confident) enough to wear them out as part of a regular outfit. I went out for a lovely friend’s birthday and paired my leather legs with a sheer blouse, blazer and some classic (high) pumps. With such a monotone palette, I accessorized with some oversized emerald green earrings for a subtle pop.

Touch of Lace.

“It is difficult to see why lace should be so expensive; it is mostly holes”

– Mary Wilson Little

Lace seemed to make a comeback last year. I did add a few lace pieces to my wardrobe in 2012 – a few tops and a special dress for my bridal shower. Initially it was hard to get over the feeling of wearing a doily, but when paired with a more masculine piece (shown here with a blazer), it transforms into a nice feminine touch. Coloured lace (I love black & navy) also helps to eliminate the feeling that you should be lying on your grandmother’s coffee table.
